Math was never my strongest subject in school. I could never quite get into it. The numbers always just seemed to jumble together and not make sense.
Therefore, after a while, I stopped aiming to get an A in my class, and I just strived to pass without having to retake the class during summer school.
But math is more than just a class we have to suffer through in school in order to graduate. It’s actually quite applicable to everyday life.
One man ended up showing Twitter just how good it is to have a basic understanding of math. It can actually solve real-world problems, such as a pizza dispute.
The man on Twitter, whose name is Roy, has gone viral for his use of “pizza math.” As he explained, the whole thing came about after he went to a restaurant and ordered a 9-inch pizza. Unfortunately on that day, the restaurant was out of 9-inch pizzas. Trying to rectify the situation, the waiter then brought Roy two 5-inch pizzas of his own.
But Roy was not convinced. The math simply didn’t add up.
I gave him the mathematical formula to calculate the area of a circle.
Circle Area = π r²
where π = 3.1415926,
r is the radius of the circle.
So, a 9-inch circle area = 63.62 https://t.co/Fkg3nywqwc.
while
a 5-inch circle area is 19.63 https://t.co/Fkg3nywqwc.2/3

That is when Roy decided to put things right. The man then used his calculations in order to demonstrate to the owner that he actually wasn’t getting an extra inch of pizza for free. He’d need at leas two more pizzas to make it work!
The two 5-inch circle areas add up to 39.26 https://t.co/Fkg3nywqwc .
I said that even if he gave three pizzas, I would still lose-out.
"How can you say you are giving me an extra inch for free?"
The owner was speechless.
He finally gave me 4 pizzas.Take Maths seriously!

That is some pretty important mathematics at work – good thing that Roy paid attention in school!
