Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

If there is one thing that people tend to have opinions about, it’s food. There is always going to be someone who wants to argue their point and they will often do so, regardless of whether anyone is truly listening or not.

It seems as if a 46-year-old woman named Paula Patton found herself in such a situation.

She took a video while she was frying chicken for her son, Julian, and it went viral. The problem was, people were going crazy over how she cooked the chicken.

Patton, an actress and producer known for her roles in things like “Warcraft” and “Hitchcock,” reached out in another Instagram video to respond to the naysayers. She told them that she understood, but then she also caption the video: “Peace, love and fried chicken ❤️.”

She agreed that the way she makes chicken may look crazy but it’s how her mother taught her to do it. Some of the complaints that came in had to do with how she seasoned the chicken and how she didn’t wash the chicken properly before frying it.

She said in the response video: “It’s all good because everybody’s got their own way of making things.”

She also said that she was up for taking suggestions and would even make a new type of chicken but she’s always going to make chicken the way her mother made it; by putting the seasoning in the oil.

In her words: “It’s just the way we do it.”

Patton had posted the video to her social media account in March, but twitter got a hold it and it took on an entirely new life. People have been arguing about her cooking methods but now it has gotten out of hand.

Can’t we all just get along? Is fried chicken for Pete’s sake!
