I’m sure that we’ve all heard about fast food hamburgers that have been found years after they were purchased and they essentially still look the same.

We may have even found a French fry or two in our car that shockingly is unchanged due to the passage of time.

It seems as if a woman has a cupboard of junk food that she has kept for years, and has shared the video of her collection on TikTok. She wanted to show that certain processed foods never go bad, and the collection is quite large.

Elif Kandemir went into her mother’s pantry for a video she shared on that social media platform. Over 3 million people have viewed it and although it got many likes, I’m not necessarily convinced that people actually like knowing that fast food is forever food.

Her text in the video says: “This is my mum’s food cupboard – full of foods that never go off! My mum is a nutritionist helping to tackle obesity. These foods shown here are ultra-processed foods that 80% of the UK consume on a regular basis.”

In the caption, she asked if anybody is still wanting a burger.

She went on to talk about how the majority of those in the UK (and probably around the world) are eating this diet. In her words, “80% of a person’s diet should not be made up of these foods.”

There have been some questions as to why fast food doesn’t age. According to a report by Serious Eats in 2019, it may have a lot to do with the lack of moisture. I’m not sure, but this video is eye-opening, to say the least.
