When you work as a server in a restaurant, you know that you will see some unusual things from time to time. In this case, however, the unusual happened before anyone got the job.
Abby is a TikTok user who posted about this job, which has gone viral. She calls it the most insane ad for a server at a restaurant she has ever seen.
She also adds that it made her day.
The Craigslist ad started, like many others, describing the establishment. They referred to themselves as a “fun, fast-paced unique bar restaurant,” and they wanted somebody who could be calm in a fast-paced environment and would be sober on the job.
That is when things started to go downhill. The ad lists every possible thing you should not do, from being unable to handle skillful sarcasm to saying your grandmother’s ham made you sick again.
As she worked her way down through the list, it kept getting more ridiculous. At one point, I even wondered if it was a joke rather than an actual help-wanted ad.
I can imagine that it is difficult to find the right person for the right job at times. That being said, they really took things too far in this ad and probably scared off half of the people who would be the perfect fit.
It went from bad to worse, however, when the hiring manager mentions that if they accidentally got on the plane to Vegas or if they hadn’t surfed in a while, that would not be a legitimate excuse for missing work.
Another excuse that wouldn’t work is apparently having a headache after going to too many garage sales.
@.desertrat DONT GET LOCKED IN YOUR OWN HOUSE OR YOU WILL BE FIRED!!! #craigslist #craigslistspecial #serverlife #nobodywantstowork
Additional reasons why you would not apply include: “You woke up in a good mood and didn’t want to ruin it, you’ve been at the casino all night and still have money to play with, you ordered takeout that is late and you have to be home to accept/pay for it, you’ve locked yourself in the house by mistake and there are no windows to crawl out of or if you want to work a few weeks before you go on your ‘European vacation.'”
I don’t think I’ll be applying for this job.
