Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

We love to see people getting the most possible usage out of their clothes, especially when it comes to wedding dresses. Let’s face it: Wedding dresses are costly purchases and in the vast majority of instances, you are only going to be wearing it once.

This is definitely true for all of the women who got married back in the ’80s and ’90s. For the most part, all these dresses have been doing in sitting in a closet and collecting dust.

That’s what makes this story such an awesome one. At long last, all of these mothers have found the perfect way for their old dresses to receive a second wind. In fact, it has become a trend and like many fashion trends, it has not taken long for TikTok to get behind it.

The mothers want to pass their wedding gowns down but as you would expect, their daughters are not looking to get hemmed in by the fashion standards of yore. That’s why the gowns are not being used for weddings in the modern day.

The retro dresses are being altered and turned into rehearsal dresses and causal wear. This allows their gowns to remain a part of their daughters’ special days.

The bridal designers that are responsible for these changes are amazingly talented, aren’t they? If we did not know better, we would never have known that these were the same dresses.

The makeovers are now going viral on TikTok and we have been loving every minute of it. Lovell Faye Bridal (who goes by @lovellfayebridal on TikTok) is here to share their handiwork.

They want to help these brides who wish to pay homage to their mothers’ style and they are sharing the results with anyone who would like to see it.

“Everyone loves the tradition of ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,'” Lovell shares on her website. “Freeing your mothers wedding dress from storage and incorporating it into your wedding wardrobe is a touching and unique way to pay tribute to the tradition and celebrate in style.”
