As agriscience continues to evolve, we have far more options available to us than ever before. This is especially apparent when we head to the store and take a closer look at all of the fruit that is currently available.

If you have never taken a gander at all of the produce that is available at your local grocery store, be sure to do so during your next store run.

You are sure to be shocked by what you see. Between the shapes and colors that now exist, we have never seen anything quite like it. There is one fruit that we are going to talk about today that is sure to draw some attention. Are you a lover of grapes? If so, this is your perfect chance to learn more about the magic of moon drop grapes.

They have a very cool name and they look even cooler, trust us on that one. We had not heard of them until recently but now we are beyond excited to try them out.

Moon drop grapes are awesome to look at, as they are darker in color and have a cylindrical shape. They allow us to split the difference between tart and sweet as well.

Once they have been placed in the fridge, they last for a pretty long time, which is another bonus. According to Taste of Home, the moon drop grape is said to have been given its name because they are shaped like raindrops.

They were trademarked by International Fruit Genetics (IFG) as Sweet Sapphires and they are often sold under this name.

IFG created them 19 years ago and they have become a staple at various grocery stores ever since. Whether you want to consume them as a snack or chop them up to place them in other foods, you have all sorts of options available to you. They come into season during the late summer and early fall, so keep your eyes peeled during this time of year. This is when they are most likely to make their way to grocery store shelves near you.
