Jim Carrey is a generational showman and we have known this ever since the first time that we saw him on “In Living Color.”

Since that fateful moment, his stardom has only continued to rise. He has the type of personality where you wonder if he is ever able to turn it off. Judging from this appearance on the “David Letterman Show,” we highly doubt.

There are certain comedians whose talk show appearances are absolute must-see events because you do not know what they are going to do. While some celebrities are content to merely promote whatever their latest product is, Carrey takes things to a whole new level. This appearance took place back in November 2010 and features a performance for the ages.

He treated the audience to his own version of “Take On Me” by A-ha and we cannot stop laughing. If there is one thing that Jim Carrey is going to do, it is fully commit himself to whatever bit that he is doing. Letterman had encouraged him to do so and of course, Jim was more than happy to rise to the occasion.

“I’ve been trying to learn how to sing because everybody needs to be singing. There’s so much singing going on in the movies and stuff like that and you gotta be ready…… but i want songs that are hard. A song that is hard that will challenge me, okay? So once I learn it and once I sing it and I get it down then I can call myself a singer,” Carrey said in the video.

He clearly relished the challenge and we love to see it. The band was not only amused by the performance, they were legitimately impressed.

Once you get past the inherent silliness of this clip, he is putting his whole heart and soul into this one. If you have never seen this one before, the description should be more than enough to get you excited.
