In my old apartment, I had a dishwasher and it was magical. At the end of the day, all I had to do was gather up all the dirty bowls, plates, mugs, glasses, utensils, etc., stack them into the dishwasher, and an hour or so later, everything would be clean! It was wonderful. And then I had to move. Now, I’m a slave to washing my dishes by hand. And I miss the good old days.

But if you’re someone with a dishwasher in your home, then chances are you use it every single day. But sometimes you might be doing more light loads than full loads depending on how much cooking you do. And while you need to wash your dishes every day in order to avoid a build-up, if you have room to spare in your dishwasher, there are actually other things that you can be washing as well.

As Ina Garton showed off in an Instagram video, you can literally wash everything in it. The cook opened up her dishwasher to show that there was more than dishes and utensils in hers. There were pots and pans as well!

If you’re not sick of unloading the dishwasher, could you please come unload mine??

A post shared by Ina Garten (@inagarten) on

In the photo, she captioned it, “If you’re not sick of unloading the dishwasher, could you please come unload mine??”

Given that she washes everything in her kitchen, we can understand her wanting to have someone else unload her dishwasher for her. However, not everyone was impressed by her hack. There were plenty of people who were critical of her belief that everything could go into the dishwasher. Garton responded to these comments by saying, “EVERYTHING goes in the dishwasher!! My assistant used to put the bird cage in the dishwasher (she took the bird out first).”

But all of Garten’s criticisms didn’t seem to phase her. And that seemed to rub off on some of her followers, with one person noting that if she could do it, so could they. Let us know if you’re like Garten and you just throw everything into the dishwasher as well.
