It’s hard to believe that spring is here and as a sign that spring has sprung, the tulips are out in full force. That includes this delicious looking tulip variety that is known as the “ice cream” tulip. All tulips are beautiful but these are phenomenal!

These perennials have pink petals on the outside and white blossoms on the top. It makes them look just like ice cream cones! Of course, you wouldn’t want to take a lick of one of these flowers, but it sure can put a smile on your face when you see one.

Typically, ice cream tulips would bloom in mid-to-late spring. Once they bloom, they last for quite a while. In Harrison, Ohio, Spring Hill Nursery reports that they open completely at times, which makes them look more like a peony rather than an ice cream cone.

This photo by @liaenmauk shows you how beautiful they are.

Some of the blooms may be up to 6 inches, so they are a perfect addition to bouquets or to your garden.

You can also fill up your bike basket, as @leranel did before posting on Instagram.

@gablerka7886 gives us a clear indication of why they are called the ice cream tulip.

Tulipan "Ice Cream" moje tulipowelove – chyba najpiękniejszy w mojej kolekcji tulipanowej, a na pewno najdłużej wyczekiwany, bo dopiero za trzecim podejściem mamy zgodność etykiety z zawartością opakowania 💕🌷💕🌷💕🌷💕 #tulipany #tulips #tulipa #icecreamtulips #beauty #garden #garten #mood #ogrodowelove #ogrodomania #kwiatysapiekne #instaflowers #instakwiaty #flowerstagram #picoftheday #tulipowelove #konarzewo #dopiewo

If you want to try your hand at growing a few, you can buy them at many retailers and nurseries on a seasonal basis. It’s better to purchase them closer to the time when they are planted in the fall.

Most people love seeing tulips pop up as the weather gets warm every year. The Netherlands is a place where you can go to see some famous tulips, but many farms are closed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In Holland, Dutch Daffodils went on Facebook to share a picture of tulips that spelled out “See You Next Year.”

Due to Covid-19 travel plans have changed. Many of you were planning to travel to The Netherlands to see the flower…

Posted by Dutch Daffodils on Sunday, April 19, 2020

“This Sunday we spent with our families in the flower field to create something special for you,” the post reads. “We headed the tulips a bit earlier to write this message. From our families to yours! We hope that this brightens your day a bit and we hope to see you next year!”

Just seeing these pictures on the Internet makes us feel better. I couldn’t imagine seeing them in life!
