There’s something about the smell of clean that really attracts us to a place. Unfortunately, what smells clean isn’t always clean and that fact was pointed out by a real estate agent.

She let us know that she had seen something and now that she has seen it once, she is always suspicious when there is a bleach smell in a home.

It may be something that could make it popular on the market, but unfortunately, it may mean that there is something fishy going on behind the scenes.

At first, she thought that the owner of the home was cleaning when she went around to show the house. She could smell the bleach, but in the background, there was something percolating that needed to be uncovered.

She posted the video on TikTok, saying: “I was showing buyers this house that they wanted to see, and we knew that the seller was gonna be present because she was not gonna leave the house. That’s typically not the norm, but frankly it’s her house and she can decide what she wants.”

She went on to say that she would invite them into the house and it was always dark inside. That is when a smoke smell would hit you in the face but there was a strong chlorine smell on top of it. The buyers and the agent would both assume that she was just trying to keep the house clean and would continue with the tour.

When they went out in the garage, all of her pets were out in the car. You could hear all of them and there were quite a few. After the house was under contract and during the inspection, some things were uncovered that were hidden all along.

One of the things they had a difficult time with was negotiating with the owner. The agent called her “really really difficult to work with.”

When it was time for the final walk-through, she went to the home and the buyers were there and the chlorine smell was still inside.

At this point, she was wondering what was trying to be covered up but the clients were absolutely thrilled to be moving in. They went in on the first day ready to remodel and started pulling up the floors.

Unfortunately, the floors were full of urine from the pets. It seems as if the old pet urine smell was what was trying to be covered up by the bleach smell.

It was so bad that the new owners almost started throwing up. Rather than saving the floors and trying to redo them, they had to throw them out along with the trim.

She said: “It was so bad, and they call me right away and they’re like ‘well, we finally realized why the strong bleach smell.’ She was covering up pet urine odor.”

I guess this is a clear case of “let the buyer beware.”
