There’s no denying that Home Alone has become a Christmas classic that many families snuggle up to watch each year around December. It’s right up there with Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Story, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Since the first film was released in 1990 the Home Alone franchise has produced Home Alone 2 (and 3 and 4) as well as Home Alone: Holiday Heist. But, none have touched off people’s nostalgia quite like the original. With its luxurious Chicagoland home decorated exclusively in red, green, and cream the house is arguably another character in the film. Now you can stay in the iconic house in Winnetka, Illinois, for one, glorious night this year.
In a promotion of the latest film, Home Sweet Home Alone, the house is being offered for one night only. The guest who manages to book this Airbnb will have to pay $25 and an undisclosed amount of taxes and fees for the privilege. The listing is open starting on December 7th, 2021, and the actual stay is scheduled for December 12th.
Despite the grand scale of the house, which Zillow lists as being a 6-bedroom with 5 full baths and 1 half bath, only 4 guests in total are allowed to stay in the house.
While the interior of the actual house was always quite different from how it was decorated in the film, for this event many similar details to the film have been put into the house. The master bedroom dons a four poster bed and a fireplace, but the curtains have a much more modern feel to them in emerald green velvet.
Red carpet adorns the grand staircase and a wallpaper in red and green damask not unlike the McCallister’s lines the walls. In this fictional world Buzz is all grown up and runs his own security firm and has left the house unoccupied while he and his family are away at the holidays. Buzz is listed as the host on the Airbnb page and true-to-character he warns guests not to go into his room.
The listing doesn’t included the full house, just 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. However, breakfast is included.
For the occasion Airbnb will make a one-time donation to the La Rabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago. The lucky guest(s) will also get to take home a LEGO Ideas Home Alone set to build the house in miniature once their night of revelry is over.SKM: below-content placeholder
