Most charcuterie boards are not associated with sweets. In fact, most of us associate these boards with grapes, meats, cheeses, and other savory finger foods. However, Halloween is on the way. That means that we need something that is a little more befitting of the season. It’s time to put the cheese to rest and grab something that aligns with Halloween, right?
Anyone who has ever put one of these boards together in the past knows that they will need to add a wide range of candies. After all, variety is the spice of life. Obviously, you cannot rely on the same old Kit Kats and Hershey bars. This is your chance to truly strut your stuff. Some M&M’s simply won’t do. Hershey’s has plenty of awesome Halloween varieties for you to check out, so no worries there.
Vampire Kisses and Kit Kat Witch’s Brew are some wonderful options. M&M’s Creepy Cocoa Crisp is another commonly chosen Halloween candy when it comes to these boards. Remember, you want candies that will actually pop and stand out. Choosing the same old reliable candies over and over again is not in your best interests.
Mother’s Circus Animal Cookies has an excellent Halloween variety as well. Oreo’s orange Halloween cookies are typically a major hit, too. If you’d like to balance out the sweeter treats, add some spooky marshmallows or sour candy. Some may also decide to add banana ghosts and orange pumpkins so that their board has a bit of fruit for everyone to choose from.
There’s no such thing as being too creative in these instances. Your Halloween guests will thank you. If you are instituting a closed-door policy this year (and we can’t say that we blame you), be sure to design a board that will look awesome on Zoom. You and your friends should have plenty of opportunities to compare notes. These boards also provide plentiful photo opportunities for the ‘Gram!
In fact, we took to Instagram and found some of the best designs that the season has to offer. If you are looking for any additional ideas this year, these boards are sure to provide you with the necessary inspiration.
