Chicken breasts often get a bad rap for being boring, but they sure don’t have to be. Take this Golden Baked Chicken for example. It’s impossibly juicy, full of savory flavor, and nestled in a creamy sauce that’s finished off with comforting provolone and some buttery cracker crunch. That? Well that’s anything but boring.

What Ingredients Do You Need for Golden Baked Chicken?
It’s not a long list! You need a few spices (which you can change up to your liking) and not much else. You’ll need:
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts.
- Mayo.
- Sour cream.
- Provolone cheese.
- Parmesan cheese.
- Butter crackers. (Think Ritz.)
- Seasoned salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried thyme.
That’s all you need for some of the best chicken you’ve ever had.

How Do You Make Golden Baked Chicken?
Ready for an easy recipe? Here you go.
You stir together those spices — the seasoned salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme — and then rub it all over the chicken. The chicken goes in a baking dish.

Then, you simply stir together the mayo, sour cream, and parmesan and spread it all over the chicken. (I know mayo on chicken seems weird, but just trust it. It adds so much flavor and keeps the meat so moist.)

Each chicken breast gets two slices of provolone on top and a sprinkle of crushed crackers. And then you bake. Let your thermometer be your guide because the time is really dependent on the thickness of the chicken.

Provolone is the perfect choice here because while its flavor is mild, it has more than, say, mozzarella, but its melting qualities are second to none. That means you not only get juicy-as-can-be chicken, you get juicy chicken with a cheese pull and an irresistible crunch.
