If you happen to find yourself in Detroit, Michigan, there will be an establishment that you must pay a visit to: Mom’s Spaghetti, a restaurant that is owned by Eminem.

As you probably have guessed, the name of the physical establishment is a tribute to the iconic line from his 8 Mile track “Lose Yourself.”

The restaurant is located right in downtown Detroit, where it opened up on the 29th of September. It was built in a joint effort with Eminem, his manager Paul Rosenberg, and the Union Joints restaurant group. Mom’s Spaghetti started off as a pop-up back in 2017, but now its permanent address marks a first for the business.

Its location is a small bodega within Union Assembly. Ann Stevenson designed the area and completed it with a walk-up window in the alley. There is a little area of indoor seating beside the bodega.

There will be more exciting projects in the works as well. There will be an upcoming opening of a retail space just above Mom’s Spaghetti that is called The Trailer. It will be paying homage to the B. Rabbit’s trailer from 8 Mile. The Trailer will be selling Mom’s Spaghetti perch as well as limited editions or dead stock pieces that come from Eminem’s retail collection and memorabilia.

According to TulsaWorld, Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, stated, “We’ve had a lot of fun putting this project together with the folks at Union Joints, and the response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. The previous pop-ups were really a test for us to determine whether there was enthusiasm for a regularly-occurring Mom’s Spaghetti spot that would be open all year long. We are really pleased to announce the arrival of the walk-up restaurant and adjacent upstairs store, called The Trailer, where fans can experience a uniquely-curated environment and obtain merch and other items from Eminem and his new pasta operation.”

Curt Catallo, the co-owner of Union Joints, also shared, “When we were first tapped to create the pop-ups it was an honor for all of us involved. The opportunity to build a permanent location based on an incredibly meta reference was one that everyone at Union Joints, as a Metro Detroit restaurant group, took very seriously. We’re proud of the fact that we created a scratch sauce that tastes like it’s straight from the jar, and wok-firing the noodles gives it that leftover pasta snap. The walk-up window and small diner-like spot for people to eat add to the feeling that this is a homegrown, DIY experience. And The Trailer retail space that Ann (Stevenson) designed is a nod to Eminem’s character in 8 Mile…it’s something that belongs in Detroit, and it feels right at home in this space.”
