Photographer Ian Haggerty decided that he would be the one to take the literal plunge, and the end results are absolutely fantastic.

He decided to take a 39-foot plunge, in order to see what would happen if an egg is cracked this far down. It seems like such an obvious thing (of course the egg will crack) but the result is amazing.

When you want to find out more about what happens if you crack an egg underwater, you have no choice but to crack an egg underwater.

It seems counter intuitive but here we are. As it turns out, the process of cracking an egg underwater is essentially impossible.

What is it about this location that makes it so difficult to execute this exceedingly simple act? This video actually taught us something new.

The egg will crack but the pressure of the water allows it to remain perfectly intact. It will crack, just not in the manner that most would expect. The yolk is pulled forward by the water and the egg whites are trailing behind them.

The best part of all is that the result looks an awful lot like the diver is spending time with a jellyfish.
