Getting a gift from your child is one of the coolest things that a parent can experience. It is truly the thought that counts.

Now, this lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan is getting a gift from his daughter that he will not soon forget. He’s never gotten the chance to see his favorite team in person but all of that is finally about to change, thanks to her thoughtful gesture.

“My dad has been an Eagles fan his whole entire life and he’s never been to an NFL game let alone an Eagles game…. Well this Father’s Day that all changed. we will experiencing our first game TOGETHER,” she tweeted. Of course, hearts were melted all over the place. Derek Godwin was very emotional about the experience, as you would expect.

Dayona, his daughter, was more than happy to look out for her father. She knows just how much the team means to him. He received two tickets to the Eagles’ Week 17 game at Washington’s FedEx Field and we are sure that he is psyched for the occasion.

There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere at a professional football game. It is something that every football fan needs to experience.

Derek has spent his life in Ocean City, Maryland, working as a foreman at the city’s Convention Center and still finding a way to raise a family. Even though he’s a massive Eagles fan, he would regularly give up his Sundays on the couch to spend them with his daughter at her basketball games. Dayona was a high school athlete who played sports all the way into college, which she shares about on her Twitter.

“He just prioritized me, along with my mom. They were committed to just being there supporting me doing everything I had to do,” Dayona said to The Philadelphia Times. “He put his wants to the side for me,” she added.

She’s out of college now and her father is nearing retirement age. This was her way of thanking her old man for all of the support that he has been willing to provide over the years.

“He’s just super excited. You’d think he was a little kid on Christmas just opening his presents,” said Dayona. “Making my dad happy is everything,” she added.

What a thoughtful present!
