Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

I still don’t have kids. But I’m now at that age where many of my friends are beginning their families, and just watching my friends go through the journey of parenthood really makes me reflect on the sentimentality that comes with being a parent.

The one thing that I’m always hearing from my friends is, “where is the time going?” It’s a phrase I used to hear from my parents growing up – something that would make me roll my eyes.

But now I totally get it. As an adult, I’m realizing more and more that time is fleeting and it moves quite fast. Nothing points that out quite like having a child and watching them grow up before your eyes.

Most parents want to make time stand still for a moment, so they can enjoy their kids as children before they’re all grown up. Many parents do their best to capture moments in time by taking pictures of their kids as they grow up. It’s as close to stopping time as they’ll ever get.

One Dutch artist & filmmaker, Frans Hofmeester, decided to film a portrait of his daughter every single week from the moment that she was born.

He continued to do this over 20 years, compiling a whole archive of his daughter throughout the years. Not only that, but then he put them all together into a time-lapse to show his daughter aging within minutes.

It’s a very cool, very heartwarming visual of what it means to be a parent.

It basically is like watching your child grow up within minutes as you’ll always remember them as being your baby.
