Come watermelon season, there’s no upper threshold to getting this refreshing, bright fruit, but sometimes eating watermelon can be awkward, and I’m not talking about getting seeds in your teeth. When you eat watermelon, getting to the very bottom part of the watermelon is practically impossible. I, for one, always get juice on my face or my clothes or a combination of the two, but I finally have no more watermelon eating blunders thanks to this cute and functional watermelon cutting technique that’ll turn this treat into the star of the table.
It really is as easy as a few simple knife cuts. For me, I always need to watch instructions rather than read them, so when I came across this trick in a video, I knew I could replicate the results.
After breaking down the watermelon into quarters, slice the tip ends of the watermelon off.
Take a knife and run the knife along the bottom of the watermelon where it meets the rind. Don’t slice into the watermelon too deep.
The most difficult part is removing portions of the rind, but it’s not too complicated. Taking your knife, insert it into the lowest part of the watermelon where the rind meets the watermelon. At a 45-degree angle, slice a square shape notch out of the watermelon rind. Flip the watermelon over and repeat the previous two steps again.
Now you can stop right here and call it a day, but you can make these watermelon popsicles even cuter by slicing tiny indentations into the sides. Cutting out tiny triangles you can make these popsicles look like tiny trees, no math is needed, just simply space the triangles out in intervals of three.
Flip the watermelon over and repeat the step on the other side. Depending on the size of your watermelon, you may not be able to get all three notches into the sides, but no worries.
Now that the watermelon popsicles are shaped, you simply have to slice the popsicles into portions, don’t make the slices too thin, or else they may break.

Store them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve them up. This is a perfect treat for the kids, but adults will love it too especially as a garnish or snack during a happy hour gathering.
