Even if you don’t have a Costco membership, you’ve undoubtedly heard of their famous sheet cake. Not only are the sheet cakes massive and low-priced, like everything at the wholesale retailer, but it’s delicious. Addictive, even. If you’re a fan of this sweet treat, then you’ll flip your lid for another one of their bakery items: tiramisu.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the traditional Italian dessert, it consists of mascarpone, Italian cookies called ladyfingers, coffee, heavy cream, cocoa, and some recipes call for alcohol, usually dark rum, coffee liquor, or Marsala wine.
The ingredient list alone can be intimidating, but the process is even more so. For starters, you have to brew a strong pot of coffee and soak the ladyfingers to give them that rich coffee taste. Then, you’ll need to make the creamy filling, with consists of egg yolks, heavy cream, and mascarpone. Next, there’s layering, cocoa powder, and finally letting it sit in the fridge for a few hours before you can finally enjoy the tasty treat.
There’s no doubt this dessert is delicious. It’s rich, creamy, decadent, and bursting with a sweet coffee flavor. Good thing you don’t have to spend all day in the kitchen to get your tiramisu fix! Now Costco has a version of its own in the refrigerated section.
This hefty dessert weighs in at two and a half pounds, which means there’s more than enough to feed a crowd, especially considering how rich and filling it is. At $15.99, it’s probably not something you’d get all the time, but all in all, the cost is far less than you would spend if you made it yourself. And don’t forget all the time you’re saving.
Next time you’re looking for a dessert to share with a crowd, consider ditching the classic Costco sheet cake and going with tiramisu!
