Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

This is the sort of topic that is sure to draw a lot of opinions in both directions. When this woman experienced criticism for saying that she did not want to have kids, she decided that it was finally time to strike back.

When it came time to explain her reasoning for not having children, she had a laundry list of reasons to share.

Maria shared the list on TikTok and we are already laughing. “Reasons why I will not be having children. Number one, and most importantly, I don’t want to,” she began. That makes all the sense in the world. No one should be having children unless they are 100 percent sure that they want to.

Maria is also not the biggest fan of having to go through a pregnancy. “I don’t want my belly to grow, I don’t want my body to change, my organs are going to move, there’s going to be something stuck in there for nine months,” she explained. “Scary things can happen to women during pregnancy – you can lose your teeth, you can lose your hair – I don’t want to go through that,” Maria continued.

In addition to these concerns, Maria is afraid that she will not love her children in the manner that she should. One of the last reasons that she provided is easy to relate to: She is concerned about the state of the world that we live in nowadays.

The threat of potential health issues during childbirth was another reason that she discussed. “Women die during giving birth,” she says. “You rip down to your a–hole and then doctors stitch you up and add an extra stitch for your husband so he can have pleasure. Does that sound like a good idea? No,” she concluded.

Maria does not view herself as being the most paternal person, she’s not a fan of diapers and she’s more content to be an auntie. From the sounds of it, she is making the right choice. Everyone is not cut out to have kids, after all.

Sometimes, it is best for us to recognize this and plan accordingly. Meanwhile, there are others who will say that they did not feel like parents until after their children arrived. You never really know if having kids is for you until you have them – and by then, it might be too late! Check out her video below:
