Supply Chain Issues Could Lead To A Chicken Tender Shortage In The US
The supply chain issues that have been caused by COVID-19 are affecting any number of our favorite foods.
According to TODAY, various reports state that value packs of chicken tenders are not as easily obtained as they once were. There’s been a pricing increase of nearly $1 per pound and chicken tenders have been hit especially hard because there is far more packaging and processing that takes place.

Since they are more expensive to produce, restaurants all over the country find themselves in a very challenging spot. Even companies that are closely associated with chicken tenders, such as KFC, are being forced to remove tenders from their promotional items because they do not wish to trigger a further shortage. Hattie B’s Hot Chicken in Nashville has even spoken out about the crisis.
According to TODAY, Morris said, “There is no safe harbor in the supply chain right now. We see it across the board, but certainly, you feel the pain the most in tenders.” According to Morris, the restaurant has yet to raise its prices to account for the shortage but he is unsure that customers would go along with it if they did.

“If we were pricing along with it, I don’t know if folks would still want to pay what it would cost,” he admitted to the news outlet. Restaurant chains are not the only ones who are feeling the pinch. Parents are also struggling to find chicken tenders at the same frequency that their children have become accustomed to.
Kids are notoriously picky, and chicken tenders and nuggets have been a classic “safe” food in many homes. It seems families may be forced to diversify at dinnertime now!

There is a wide range of items that have been affected by the shortage, such as takeout containers and coffee cups. Others may have noticed that wine and spirits are also becoming harder to find. We simply hope that all of these issues are hashed out in a timely manner so that everyone can get their hands on their favorite items once more.
