Cats are natural predators, and chickens are natural prey. As such, they make natural enemies.
Growing up, we used to raise chicks and we’d always keep the cats far away from the little birds until they were old enough to fight back. Even then, we had to keep a close eye on them just in case the cats decided to get feisty.
While it’s not uncommon for cats and chickens to keep their space from each other, one adorable duo is proving that love knows no bounds.
A tabby cat and hen, who both live in an apartment with their human mom in Changchun, China, have become the unlikeliest of friends and they’re winning the hearts of people around the world because of it.
While most people who own cats know that they tend to run the roost, in this household, the hen is in charge. The younger male cat seems to respect that and be ok with his place on the pecking order and it makes their relationship work beautifully!
In adorable videos shared on the social media platform Kuaishou, you can see the cat and chicken snuggling up together, hugging one another, and playing.
It’s incredibly strange to witness, but so heartwarming!
