If you’ve ever had the pleasure of eating this style of dumpling, then you already know this recipe is going to be a real treat. We’ve made many different versions over the years and every single one has been delicious. Add a scoop of ice cream on top and they’re downright heavenly. These easy Cherry Dumplings are no exception. Made with crescent roll dough and cherry pie filling they are super simple to whip up and guaranteed to please.

I have to say, the tart cherry and sweet buttery flavors go together beautifully. You’ll want to spoon a few cherries into the center of a triangle of crescent dough, then seal the edges of the dough around it. Place the dumplings in a large baking dish and then start on the sauce. Melted butter, brown sugar, a little sauce from the cherry pie filling, cinnamon, and vanilla are mixed together and then poured over the prepared dumplings. The final step is adding some lemon lime soda. Be careful to pour the soda around the dumplings and not on top of the dough so they’ll get nice and crisp as they bake.

Ingredients
  • 2 ( 8 oz) cans crescent roll dough
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • ¾ cup butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup 7Up or Sprite soda
  • Ice cream for serving
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Separate the crescent dough triangles. Working one at a time, place spoonful of cherry filling at the base of the triangle, then wrap dough around them and pinch edges to seal. Evenly space dumplings in the prepared baking dish
  3. Add butter and 3 tablespoons of cherry sauce (from can) to a medium-sized microwave safe bowl, heat until butter has melted. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Pour mixture evenly over dumplings.
  4. Pour soda between the dumplings (not over the top).
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden in color. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
