As expected, all things designer tend to come with very heavy price tags. There’s a reason why we rarely set foot in those stores. It’s too rich for our blood, that is for sure.

However, those who enjoy the finer things will always frequent these locations. Unfortunately for the good folks at Chanel, even the high-class shoppers out there are not thrilled with their “luxury” Advent calendar.

The $825 limited-edition calendar was a first of its kind, so it naturally caught the attention of Chanel fans around the world and even sold out online.

However, some people were left quite disappointed after opening the calendar. TikToker Elise Harmon (@eliseharmon) was one of the first people who took to TikTok to register their displeasure at what is taking place here.

The series of unboxing videos that she uploaded were absolutely hilarious. “I am barely hanging on over here, y’all,” read the caption on her fifth clip.

That’s the understatement of the century, for sure. The first video is closing in on 20 million views and it is easy to see why. “Am I crazy? Absolutely,” Elise said at the beginning of the clip, which quickly went viral. “But I’ve never seen a Chanel advent calendar, so let’s see if it’s worth the hype.” It is safe to say that she was not very impressed by what she saw.

The packaging wowed her at first but these feelings did not last for long. Once she actually got to see the Advent calendar, she was a bit annoyed by the fact that it starts with the number five. “But it starts at day number five,” Harmon points out to the audience. “I guess for Chanel No. 5? I’m kinda bummed.”

The box that she opened up for December 9th was especially disappointing, as it contained little more than some stickers. Surely, Chanel could do a bit better than that. The box for December 7th was a tad more promising, as it contained some hand cream that would typically retail for $50.

However, December 8th quickly undid all of the goodwill that the 7th was responsible for creating. “I can’t make this up,” she shared. “It’s just a dust bag.” It was a miniature dust bag, at that.

Yes, she received a full-size bottle of Chanel number five and a full bottle of nail polish but these items do not add up to $825 (or anywhere close to that).

A Chanel representative spoke about the controversy with Women’s Wear Daily, saying that they thought the calendar would please some customers but noted that they would proceed with caution when considering future products.
