We love sports with our whole hearts, as many others do. Yes, it is fun to talk smack back and forth with the fans of other teams, but for the majority of us, this stuff is all in good fun.
Sure, you might boo or make jokes about the other team and their fans but it is not like you actually want to see anything bad happen to them. “Sports hate” can always be put to the side, so that the greater good can prevail.
That’s exactly what happened here and it is the type of story that makes us proud to love sports. This incredible moment took place during Tuesday’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees. These two teams play in the same division, so of course, there is a bit of a rivalry there. Luckily, the best fans know when to put things like this to the side.
During the game, which took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, New York’s Aaron Judge bashed a sweet dinger into the stands.
If you know anything about baseball, you recognize that this is nothing new for Judge. When the ball made its way into the bleachers, it was snagged by a Blue Jays fan. Pretty standard stuff for a baseball game, right?
Just wait until you see what ended up happening next. The Toronto fan who catches the ball ends up noticing that there is a little boy in his section of the bleachers who happens to be wearing an Aaron Judge jersey. While there is no law that says he should have to give up the home run ball, he hands it off to the little boy without so much as a second thought.
The child’s reaction to being handed the home run ball is what makes this all worthwhile. This is why we come together and watch sports. There is nothing quite like uniting with your fellow man to take in a ballgame.
