Many of us who have spent time at a pub realize that different levels of service are available. It can sometimes be difficult even to get the bartender’s attention, but at other times, they seem very attentive.

A mixologist known as Roman may have the answer to why there is such a difference. He regularly goes on TikTok to share tips and advice, but this tip got some attention that was both good and bad.

The clip has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, and in it, he discusses how to tip to get better service.

Essentially, he says that bartenders share among themselves who is tipping and who is not so they can give you the same level of service.

In other words, if you don’t tip or if you only put down a few coins, you are not going to be first in line when it comes to getting served.

On the other hand, he said if you tip more than 50%, he will personally knock out whoever is in front of you so you get served.

The commenters were coming in hot and heavy on both sides of the debate.

Some agreed that tipping was essential, and they appreciated watching people getting skipped over for not putting down some gratuity.

On the other hand, there were people who did the math and said they didn’t want to spend an extra five dollars if they were already paying $10 for a beer. Many argued that it should be the employer’s job to pay the servers, not the customer’s job.
