Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

As adults, we grow up to learn that our parents had absolutely no idea what they were doing half the time, they just repeatedly tried their best. To be honest, that’s always a heartwarming thing – even when things go awry, like the dad who tried his best to get the perfect cake topper for his son’s first birthday.

Even though it came out hideously wrong, we’re sure that when his son grows up he’ll look back on the photos with appreciation knowing that his dad tried his darnedest to get it right.

But until that day comes, the rest of the internet can enjoy a good chuckle at this cake topper fail that has been making the rounds online. The father had decided to do something special for his son’s first birthday. This included going all out on a space theme.

Naturally, this meant that the cake had to have a space theme as well. And what better than a space rocket cake with a little accompanying astronaut as the cake topper? Well, it wasn’t quite what was ordered.

The dad ended up showing off an image of the unintentionally hilarious cake topper that showed up. In his post, he wrote, “My son turned 1 yesterday. This was the topper to his space themed cake. Left is what we ordered, right is what we got.”

The post exploded with more than 120,000 likes on Reddit. Many Redditors were commenting on the cake topper fail, with one person writing, “Right is left in 60 years.”

Someone else joked, “Ordered a cabbage patch kid, got a garbage pail kid.”

But perhaps the most appropriate comment came from the person who wrote, “He looks like he froze to death in the vast expanse of space.” We couldn’t agree more! What do you think of this cake topper? Let us know!
