Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

In this day and age, we are no longer confined to shopping malls for all of our Christmas needs. Since we are now able to shop online, we are getting more and more packages sent to our homes.

This creates a much larger workload for Amazon drivers and it is high time that we showed them a bit more appreciation. Thanks to this initiative, you can provide them with a much-needed tip.

If you choose to shop with Amazon, you now have the option to tip your driver $5 per trip. So, how does this work? As it turns out, the process is very simple. All you have to do is say, “Alexa, thank my driver” and the rest takes care of itself. Amazon is more than happy to provide the tip on your behalf.

What a nice way to display your gratitude this holiday season. It’s especially important when you stop to consider the hassles and difficulties that Amazon drivers deal with so that they are able to get your packages to you in a timely manner.

The reason for this promotion? Amazon is looking to celebrate an impending milestone. The company is coming up on 15 billion packages delivered, according to a press release.

The tips started being handed out on December 7 and they will be provided to the first million drivers that are thanked. The five drivers that receive the most tips are also going to be given a $10,000 bonus. In addition to the bonus, they will also have the chance to donate another $10,000 to the charity of their choice.

“For drivers, it’s more than just the packages that they deliver—they form relationships with customers, provide support to the community in tough moments, and sometimes play the role of the unexpected hero,” says the vice president of Last Mile Delivery at Amazon, Beryl Tomay, in the press release. The tips can be sent through any device that is enabled by Alexa.
