Key Lime Pie originated in Key West, Florida sometime in the late 1800s. This singular pie is traditionally made with key limes, which grow native in Key West. The key lime is more tart and aromatic than the traditional lime you see in the grocery store and while plenty of pies throughout the country use those more common limes, there’s just nothing like the real Floridian thing.

In fact, it was featured on the menu at Ye Olde Union Oyster House by 1836, which is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in this country.
