When most of us get a bag of Doritos, we open it and immediately start eating.

That wasn’t what 13-year-old Rylee Stuart did and she ended up with $20,000 for her efforts.

The teenager from Australia found a puffy Doritos chip and decided to sell it online. That unusual chip earned her a $20,000 payday, but people were offering over AU$100,000 on eBay after it sold.

One of the reasons why it sold for so much is because it went viral as a TikTok video with millions of people viewing it. It may also have been in the listing, which called it a “puffy Doritos one-of-a-kind.” That listing has been taken down and Doritos is rewarding her with $20,000.

Vandita Pandey, the Doritos Australia chief marketing officer, had the following to say, according to 9News: “It’s been a whirlwind couple of days for Rylee and her family and we’ve loved following her story. We’ve been so impressed with Rylee’s boldness and entrepreneurial spirit, so we wanted to make sure the Stuart family were rewarded for their creativity and love for Doritos.”

In speaking with the local news station, Stuart said that she almost ate it but then she decided to save it for later.

When she started seeing people bidding thousands of dollars for it, there was a bit of a power struggle in the house. Her father said that it was his money because he bought the packet but she claimed it was her money since she found it. They were kidding around, of course.
