It doesn’t matter who we are, we have all done something so incredibly stupid that it haunts our thoughts for years to come. Sometimes, we might even try to convince ourselves that it wasn’t all that bad, and we might try to think of something stupid that was done by someone else.
If you are looking for the ultimate blunder, you don’t need to look any further than Katie Wilkinson. She called the cops when she thought she saw a dead person’s toe sticking up through the mud in a field. The problem was, it wasn’t a toe, it was a potato.
Katie was out with her dog for a walk when she came across something “pretty weird.” As you can imagine, she took some pictures of it and posted them to social media before almost shrugging it off and heading home.
When she first saw it, she thought it must be a weird-looking plant so she continued on her walk. The thought of what it could have been continued to haunt her. I’m sure you can relate to how something can morph in our minds as we allow some time to pass. Katie started to think it was the toe from a severed foot or, even worse, it could have been attached to a body.
Looks like a pota-toe! 🦶🥔A phone call about suspected human remains sparked a large-scale police response – only for…
According to Mirror, she said: “I got home and bathed Phoebe, I then looked at the photograph I had taken again and I was convinced it was a toe. I sent it to all of my friends and family and asked what they thought it was. I also wanted to make sure I wasn’t being daft. Every single person replied saying that it was definitely a toe.”
That is when Katie decided to call the cops and they came to investigate. After looking into the matter and some 45 minutes had passed, they got in touch with her to give her the news.
Katie described it in this way: “One of the sergeants walked over to me and said ‘is this your toe?’ He then held out his hand which was holding a potato. I immediately felt so embarrassed. I couldn’t believe I had wasted all their time for a potato.”
I guess we can all feel a little better about that certain something we have done in the past about now.SKM: below-content placeholder
