We love Costco as much as the next person. What’s not to love? Low prices, variety, and bulk buying, not to mention their food court. There are some products, however, that you shouldn’t purchase. Don’t get us wrong, there are still great deals, and many things that are worth buying, but the following items should be left on the shelf! Keep reading to see what to skip on your next Costco run.

Kirkland Brand Batteries

Sure, these batteries might be cheaper than the name brand, but according to Consumer Report, they may end up costing you more in the long run. The biggest complaint about these batteries is that they leak battery acid and other chemicals, which means they have the potential to ruin your electronic devices.

Canned Goods

Sure, most times buying in bulk can save a ton of money, but surprisingly, not when it comes to canned food. When comparing dollars per ounce, the smaller cans you find at regular grocery stores are going to be the better deal. Plus, unless you’re feeding 50 people at once, chances are your family won’t be able to finish that can of baked beans once it’s opened. The shelf life on most canned good once opened is 3-4 days. So, not only are you not getting the best overall price, but you actually end up throwing out a bunch of food!

Kirkland Brand Paper Towels

Again, the Kirkland brand is cheaper than the brand names, but in this case, they sacrificed the quality of their product. These paper towels have been tested against the name brand ones, and each time they came up lacking. Sure, they will eventually get the job done, but how much money are you saving if you use three Kirkland brand paper towels for every one paper towel of the name brand?
