This bride experienced one of our worst nightmares firsthand, as a wedding cake fail left her in a very difficult position on her wedding day.

The cake maker definitely failed her here and our heart goes out to her. u/poemsandpupandpasta is the Reddit user who is sharing the story. We admire her bravery, as this is something that we would not have wanted to talk about.

In fact, she must have had second thoughts once the photo started circulating because she ended up deleting it. “My mum pressured me to get my cake made by her friend, who is apparently a professional baker,” the bride posted. “They just sent me this photo of the trial. Suffice to say it’s not what I ordered.” This is outrageous, to say the least.

Of course, her mother did not want to admit that her pal did a very substandard job. Mum thought it would be okay. She encouraged her daughter to just deal with it. According to the poster, she “thinks this is fine, she just says we’ll chuck some flowers on it and it’ll look great”. That’s a gutsy thing to say after your friend is personally responsible for this atrocity of a cake.

This looks like the work of someone who has just learned how to bake, let alone make wedding cakes. “This appears to be boxed cake with some warm cool whip thinly slathered on,” said one onlooker. Someone else compared this cake to the one that they made for their mother back when they were all of nine years old.

“So in answer to everyone’s questions, no, this isn’t a joke, and no she doesn’t seem to realise how horrible it looks. Mum’s friend isn’t a professional baker, as it turns out – she does hobby cakes for her grandkids. They got box cake mix and pre-made icing,” the bride continued. “I should have known something was up because mum tried to pressure me into going with a caramel mud cake – my least favorite cake of all time, but the cake my mum actually knows how to make,” she went on to say.

“So I suspect at some stage she worked out that her friend doesn’t actually know what she’s doing but she’s doubling down now,” the bride concluded. No one should have to endure such a substandard cake. Thanks to this unrealistic mother, she was left to find a local baker who could handle the task. Hopefully, she was successful.
