Jeremy Maclellan recently tried a hack that involves purchasing Starbucks gift cards for the flight attendants. We have heard about this before. Supposedly, if you scratch their backs, they will be willing to scratch yours.
He posted a video on TikTok, which is only right because that is where he learned of the hack in the first place. Jeremy was on a long-haul flight from New York to Abu Dhabi at the time. Before boarding, he handed out $130 worth of Starbucks gift cards to the crew.
“They said ‘are you a flight attendant from another airline?’ and I said, ‘No I just thought I’d show the love, spread the appreciation, you know, it’s a long flight and I appreciate you guys,'” he shared.
“Then I went and found my seat in the very back of the plane,” Jeremy continued. When he got to the seat, the most awful thing had happened. Someone was already sitting in it and she looked to be very comfortable. The woman had already decided to remove her socks and shoes, so clearly she was settled in for the duration of the flight.
This put Jeremy in a really difficult position. The passenger was eventually told to move but Jeremy did not have to take the seat. He was given the chance to sit in an empty emergency exit row. This provided him with far more legroom than he would have had otherwise.
“I think it was worth the $130. It wasn’t business class, didn’t get a full lay-down flat seat but I think it was worth the gift cards to get a whole row to myself. And they were so nice to me the whole flight. I took a nap for a bit and when I woke up there was a little goodie bag (with) a like mom-packed lunch on the seat next to me with a water bottle, sandwich and some snacks,” he said in his TikTok video.
