Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

On Valentine’s Day, The Rock happened to be spending some time in his home office like many of us do throughout the course of a day. He never could have expected what would happen next, though.

“These two little tornadoes busted into my office with their special Valentine’s Day surprises for Daddy,” he shared on Instagram.

On Valentine’s Day, Jasmine, 5, and Tiana, 3, decided that they were going to give their father a break for once. “They made a heart with hand prints and a Daddy Tree where every limb represents the things I am to them,” he continued. What an amazing idea!

These little girls truly are thoughtful, aren’t they? This is an epic gift and our favorite part is where they have listed off all of the awesome attributes that their father has to offer: “Surpriser/Big heart/Puts me to bed/Happy/Kind/Lifts things with his muscles/Generous/Plays toys with me/ A ‘rock’ /Gives me frozen bananas.”

This was not the sweetest part, either. “But the one that made me stop and take a deep breath — and once they left my office, I just sat there in my thoughts (and got all emotional)–was both of them called me ‘Friend,'” he shared in the post.

This meant the world to him because he was unable to enjoy the same type of relationship with his father. “I never really had that feeling growing up with my old man,” Dwayne explains. “He loved his kids and we loved him. He raised me with tough love and very tough discipline ~ but I never considered him a friend.”

“Being a friend is a new one for me,” he continued. “I love it – and makes me realize I’m giving my children some pretty strong anchors. Love, discipline, kindness.. and friendship. A day will come when these little tornadoes will no longer be running in my office giving me stuff like this, so I’ll cherish these moments while I can get ‘em. And when they grow up ~ I hope they still consider their father, their friend.” Now, if you will excuse us, it is time to dry our eyes….someone is cutting onions in here!
