Social isolation is taking a major toll on most of us, that’s for sure. Video calls are a great way to avoid the blues during a time like this. Even the most famous entertainers in the world need a little pick me up from time to time. Of course, when they call their BFF, it’s usually a bit more noteworthy than when we do it. Take Selena Gomez, for instance.
There are not a lot of people who can get Taylor Swift on the phone any time they feel like it, but she’s one of the chosen few. Selena lives quite the life, doesn’t she? She was cooking with one of the world’s most famous chefs and got one of the world’s most famous singers on the phone with no effort at all. She was cooking with Roy Choi at the time. The HBO Max series Selena + Chef is offering up a closer glimpse of her kitchen exploits and we are absolutely hooked. Gomez was in the process of making Korean Barbecue Texas Breakfast Tacos with Choi when she decided to call up an old friend. She did not tell the audience that this friend was the one and only Taylor Swift.
We appreciate that these two talk like any other friends that are on the phone with each other. They are not the prim and proper type. All the “yo” and “dude” banter is a dead giveaway. It doesn’t take long for Taylor to notice the delicious-looking tacos that Selena is preparing and we can’t blame her. They look absolutely tremendous!

“If you don’t send me the recipe, we’re going to have words. I want to be served that,” says Swift. Kaelyn, Roy’s daughter, was also called over during the conversation because she’s a major Taylor fan herself. According to her father, she was “freaking out” and it’s not like we can blame her. We would have lost our minds if we had the chance to see one of our heroes at her age.
They weren’t able to stay on the line for long because Selena’s grandparents were waiting to dig into their tacos. Taylor’s a “big cooking person” as well and the biggest fans of hers are already well aware! Here’s hoping that these two besties are able to get together and do some in-person cooking real soon!
