People Are Saying That This Stay-At-Home Husband Lost His ‘Man Card’
We certainly live in a world where boundaries have been broken down on many different levels. This includes the traditional ways that husbands and wives spend their time.
It’s not out of the ordinary for a wife to go off to work and for her husband to stay at home, caring for the home and the family. One man who has been documenting this way of life in his household is making waves.
Maya and Hunter, a couple from Southern California, run a TikTok account together. Hunter posts about his husbandly duties on a regular basis, including the clip from April that has gone viral.
Almost 8 million people have viewed the video so far. It shows a day in the life of Hunter when he goes to buy flowers at a farmers market for his wife and presents them in a beautiful vase.
At the beginning of the video, he jokes to those who watch that he is sorry for the tough guys. He said that the video is just another day in the life of a stay-at-home husband.
He went on to say: “Some people seem to think I lost my man card, so we went to the farmers market to buy a new one.”
Some of the other things that he did during the day included vacuuming the home and visiting the grocery store. In the meantime, his wife was recuperating from a hard week’s work while she read a book on the couch with a heating pad.
He then said: “I strapped the groceries to my mancart and got to arranging the flowers. Never give your wife flowers and expect her to arrange them. That’s a chore, not a gift.”
Many people in the comment session were cheering him on and commenting about how the couple was so wholesome.
They spoke with Buzzfeed, saying that they didn’t see many stay-at-home husband’s online so they decided to start a channel about it.
In the interview, Hunter said: “Before I began my second year of law school, I had a gap between the end of my summer job and the start of the term. So I really had no responsibilities other than my stay-at-home-husbandly duties.”
He went on to talk about how his wife came to him about the idea of starting a TikTok channel. She had seen how many revolved around stay-at-home wives and stay-at-home daughters, but not many focused on the role that Hunter played in the relationship.
There were also plenty of women on TikTok that would complain about how their husbands didn’t know how to wash a dish and certainly didn’t know how to care for a home.
That is when they made the decision to challenge the stereotypical gender roles and make a channel about their day-to-day life.
Although many people appreciate the videos they post, there are also some who disagree with their choices. They tried not to let the hate get to them, and they understand that their message is not the same message as everyone else.
Maya spoke about how friends and family in real life are supportive of their decisions. She said: “The support from the people we care about the most has been pivotal to navigating this new part of our lives.”

Some are curious about what their relationship will be like once Hunter graduates from law school and actually becomes a lawyer. Their answer is that they will do the same thing they do now.
In the end, they perhaps describe the basis of their relationship quite nicely when saying: “Equality doesn’t always mean 50-50. It means that you each give 100% wherever you can to succeed together as one.”
