If you have waited until the last minute to do your Christmas shopping, this is the perfect hack for you. Now, the world of TikTok is weighing in and this has led to some very interesting debates on the popular app.
TikTok user @keepmilagros has come up with a tip that some are referring to as genius, while others are less than amused by the idea. Just wait until you see what she has come up with.
Instead of using the main lines, she goes to the return counter instead. This is certainly a hack that is going to draw a lot of mixed reactions. We are torn about it, ourselves. On one hand, good for them. On the other, we are not sure if that’s really a hack. We cannot even guarantee that it will work at every store that you visit.
This particular clip seems to be taking place inside of a Ross Dress for Less, in case viewers need a point of reference.
“I’m going to hate myself later for posting this, but…” she says in the video. As she explains in the clip, there are a number of stores that will allow you to use this line, as long as you have an item in hand that you actually plan on returning.
To that end, she keeps an item for this specific purpose every time she goes to the store. On a day that’s not busy, she’ll buy an item to intentionally return when the store is busy so she can use the return line to return the item and buy new ones!
While there were some who were impressed by the hack, others did not find it as amusing as she does. In the words of one commentator, she is playing the system. It’s the type of tip that is sure to inspire a heck of a lot of arguing this holiday season. It’s also a lot more work for the employees to issue a return when it never needed to be returned in the first place.
Some are going to applaud her for the ingenuity, others will point out that this “simple tip” is merely just a way to get over on some poor cashier who will be stuck ringing you up instead of assisting others with their actual returns.

In our humble opinion, retail workers do not deserve any extra hassles this holiday season. If you are going to be utilizing this hack, please use the proper discretion. It is also important to bear in mind that every store is not going to allow this tip to even be used.
