Rihanna’s NGO, the Clara Lionel Foundation, recently pledged to help fight climate change by donating $15 million to the cause!

The organization shared the news in a press release, stating, “Our work is rooted in the reality that climate disasters…do not impact all communities equally…To combat this inequity, funders must build partnerships with organizations, acknowledging their deep understanding of what is necessary to achieve climate justice in their own communities.”

They added that it’s in that spirit that they will be donating $15 million to 18 different organizations that are working on climate justice across the U.S. and Caribbean.

The money specifically supports “entities focused on and led by women, youth, Black, Indigenous, people of color and LGBTQIA+ communities.”

Since Rihanna was born in Barbados in the Caribbean, it makes sense that she would prioritize work in that area, an island that could be vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. It’s not the first time she’s worked to help the people in the Caribbean, either.

According to IFLScience, back in 2019, CLF raised funds to provide relief to the victims of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.

Hopefully through Rihanna’s organization, the entities she’s supporting can make a massive difference to fight inequality in climate change and work to make climate justice a reality.
