A summer vacation home with a rooftop pool? Yes, please! Where do I sign up? The concept of the modern vacation retreat that comes complete with a pool on the roof was conceived by the appropriately named, Anti Reality. As a means of escaping reality and just giving the customer luxury and sea views, they have invented a home where the roof is actually inverted. This inversion creates the perfect basin that can then be filled as a pool and all you have to do is get in and enjoy the views.
The concept is called the Summer House. It is a 914-square-foot home which is only a single story. The dwelling is meant to be perched on top of a coastal cliff. That way, you can have perfect views. The innovation of the rooftop pool is definitely an architectural standout, but it is not the only reason that this building is fantastic. There are other touches that make the residence the perfect summer retreat, such as the wraparound outdoor walkway and panoramic windows that line the entire interior of the home. Adding them all up means Summer House is the standard of both indoor and outdoor living.
Anti Reality shares, “One of the key design intents was to create a building that would be completely open to the surroundings, providing the possibility to observe and engage in direct contact with nature. The Summer House has been designed with seasonal recreation and weekends outside the city in mind.”
Everybody needs a getaway home like this. The design is just fantastic as you can enjoy the outdoors at all times without necessarily having to be directly in the outdoors. Now if you’re worried that those windows might be a little too large to afford you any privacy should you wish it, the designers actually thought of that too. In terms of privacy functions, Summer Home is equipped with three structural cores that can be configured according to how you want to use the interior. Each one of these cores has a different function – bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen – so you can open or close them however you like. You can even open all three at the same time, which would create a freestanding wall around the entire interior of the home. This way, every Summer House homeowner can be as open or private as they wish.
The crème de la crème of this home is obviously the rooftop pool. It was designed to be accessed by an exterior ladder. The pool also comes with a siphonic drainage system, which means you can control the water levels. The outlets for the roof are located above each structural core, meaning the downpipes pass through the interior of the home into an inspection chamber.
Given the amount of thought and planning that went into this design, the only real question left is what do you pack?
