The restaurant had to temporarily close and the note that explains their reasoning is one of the sweetest things that you are ever going to read.

This story begins at Chef’s Choice Noodle Bar in Bakersfield, California. The Asian fusion restaurant is well known in the region, as husband and wife Nick and Pum Hansa (owners of the restaurant) grew up in Thailand.

Back in 2011, the couple began to envision the noodle bar that they would own. If all went according to plan, they would be able to serve all kinds of delicious street food that is derived from their native Thai culture, according to their website.

From there, they looked to recruit an awesome head chef by the name Preeda Piamfa to bring their dream to fruition. The couple’s immense respect for Piamafa is what currently has the internet buzzing.

When Chef’s Choice Noodle Bar was closed recently, a Twitter user decided to share the note that was posted on the door. It was a sign of how much the couple care for Preeda.

“Our head chef is from Thailand and every year, we send him back to visit his family,” the note reads. Before he took this position, he had not been able to visit his family for the past 15 years.

“We wanted him to have the opportunity to see his family on a more regular basis — so we close the restaurant for two weeks every fall, in order for him to visit his family and recharge himself,” the letter states.

The Twitter-sphere was very appreciative of their gesture. It is always nice to see people looking out for employees.

Preeda is more than a mere employee to them, though. The restaurant does not function without him. “I’d go out of my way to give business to places that do this for their employees,” said one viewer and we agree. We would rather eat at a restaurant where the chef is well taken care of and given the chance to rejuvenate when they need to.

If we are ever in this area, we are going to be popping in, for sure.
