Americans love ice cream and we hope that this is not a controversial statement to anyone because it is the truth. We love to talk to our friends and loved ones about their favorite flavors.
Some love good old vanilla and chocolate. Others are into butter pecan, while we are all about the chocolate chip cookie dough. Now, we are learning more about what the rest of the country likes.
Instacart created a survey that revealed the most popular ice cream flavor in each state, and it’s truly fascinating. Luckily, the results were provided just in time for us to enjoy National Ice Cream Day on July 18.
Vanilla seems to be the most popular flavor in the country, which isn’t a huge stunner. It took home a major chunk of the votes, which is to be expected when it accounts for such a sizable percentage of all ice cream sales.
Did you know that vanilla ice cream accounts for 1 in every 4 ice cream sales? It’s an insane statistic to try and wrap your mind around.
The other four flavors that tied for the lead are rocky road, green tea, coffee, and birthday cake, respectively.
“Americans’ love for ice cream runs deep, and with thousands of different ice cream options available for purchase through Instacart, we thought it would be fascinating to dig into the data to uncover the most uniquely popular flavors in each state,” said Instacart’s trends expert, Laurentia Romaniuk. We could not agree more, Laurentia!
“It turns out that people across the country have a hankering for vanilla, peanut butter cups, and fudge since ‘Moose Tracks’ is the top unique flavor in 12 states,” she continued.
