As we age, we start to realize that there are a number of childhood moments that only took place because our parents planned for them.
You just never know what lengths your parents will go to! That’s the crux of this story, as this mother named Mikki is here to share a very touching anecdote about her dear old dad. In this clip, he is taking her children to the beach to hunt for seashells.
This continues a custom that the family enjoyed during her childhood. “My dad would take us sea shell hunting growing up. I was 32 years old before he revealed his secret,” Mikki explains. As it turns out, her father has the most amazing strategy. He does not leave anything to chance when it comes to these types of adventures.
Instead of taking the little ones to the beach and hoping for the best, he has a whole different way of doing things. So, how does he make sure that the little ones are always able to find a shell when they head to the beach? He heads to the souvenir shop ahead of time and purchases an entire bag of them!
That’s as foolproof as it gets. This dad (and now grandfather) is not going to allow his grandbabies to go without a shell. We love that he plants these in the sand ahead of time and we cannot even begin to imagine how his daughter must have felt when she realized that he was carrying on such an adorable tradition from her childhood.
Our parents really do go above and beyond to make sure that our childhoods are memorable, don’t they? It makes us wonder what aspects of our childhood were like this.
