We can see why this would be so interesting to those who have perfect eyesight. Hunter Emond has provided examples of what the near and farsighted see and the video has racked up over 20 million views. She took a lens from her office and showed the world of TikTok what life is like for those who are near and farsighted.
Of course, those who have the perfect eyesight were stunned to see how the rest of us live.
The Atlantic Eye Institute states that nearsightedness occurs when everything does not have the chance to line up perfectly once the light enters the eye. The light does not hit the focal point on the retina in a direct manner, meaning that the light hits in front of the retina. As the eye grows, the proportions change and that is why most people are diagnosed with myopia by the time they turn 20.
Farsightedness takes place when the person can see things from far away and struggle when they are forced to see things from a closer view. Edmond was sure to break out another lens that showcased the difference in eyesight for the farsighted as well. The idea that someone would be able to see things that are far away but not up close feels like the surest proof that the universe has a strange sense of humor.
Glasses and contact lenses are commonly used to correct vision problems but modern science has progressed even further than expected. We are fortunate enough to exist within a time period where Lasik surgery is now available.
