Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

It’s always interesting when we see a world record broken. It’s even more interesting when we see a world-record breaking a world record.

That is what recently happened in Speicherstadt, Hamburg when employees at Miniatur Wunderland took the largest model train railway in the world and caused it to tap out a song.

In fact, there were numerous classical songs that were created by tapping glasses filled with water. The tone of the tapping would change, depending upon how much water was in the glass.

In order to create the music, the train traveled through the entire miniature park, all 220 meters of it. Thousands of glasses were used. Of course, it took a lot of time but it may have been well worth it when the Guinness World Record awarded it the Longest Melody Played by a Model Train.

Employees shared how this project took place and unfolded. It must’ve taken a lot of time, but it seems to have been a very productive use of lockdown.

“This idea was only possible during the time without visitors in the exhibition. …This gave rise to the idea of driving a train through the entire wonderland and playing a medley of the world’s most famous classical pieces. In the last few weeks it has given us a lot of diversion, fun and a good mood, but also demanded a lot of creativity, inventiveness and perseverance,”
Guinness World Records wrote on YouTube.
