If you’ve never had the opportunity to try a McDonald’s McFlurry before, you really owe it yourself to do so.

Not only are they a delicious frozen treat, but they are also one you are likely going to hear more about, thanks to an unusual lawsuit. It seems as if this dessert treat that has provided so many smiles for so many people is not without its problems. The problems aren’t with the desert itself, but rather it’s because of the machines that are used to make them. If you know anything about McDonald’s, you know their McFlurry machines are always out-of-order.

It seems as if a $900 million lawsuit is pending against McDonald’s, but it’s not from those who love the treat, it’s from a company that created technology that would fix the units and diagnose the problems.

According to Food & Wine, spoke the company that’s suing McDonald’s, Kytch, actually helped to troubleshoot the machines that are used by McDonald’s. According to the lawsuit, which you can read on SCRIBD, McDonald’s was spreading some false information about the devices Kytch used to troubleshoot McDonald’s McFlurry machines, saying that the devices could harm the employees or the McFlurry machines – claims that Kytch claims McDonald’s knew were false.

It seems as if McDonald’s may also have tried to get the details on the technology that Kytch uses so they could force them out of the marketplace.

This isn’t something that came out of the blue. Taylor, the company that makes the McFlurry machines, was trying to get their hands on the devices that Kytch uses to troubleshoot the machines. Kytch believes that Taylor was attempting to recreate the device to run Kytch out of business.

Back in 2019, a smart device was being sold to McDonald’s that allowed them to diagnose the ice cream machine remotely. By the end of 2020, there were about 500 locations that were using the device but McDonald’s ordered them to stop.

Does this mean that you will be without your beloved ice cream treat from McDonald’s? Not likely, but perhaps it does mean that a solution to why they are breaking down so often is not yet around the corner. Finding ice cream at McDonald’s may still be hit or miss.
