If you happen to be a fan of seasonings and often have something from McCormick in your cupboards, then you may want to take a look at the label.
After all, McCormick & Company is now initiating what they are referring to as a “voluntary recall” on 3 of their popular seasonings. The reason? Because of possible salmonella contamination.
The three different seasonings that are being voluntarily recalled by McCormick include the following:
Perfect Pinch Italian Seasoning
McCormick Culinary Italian Seasoning
Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Ranch Seasoning
According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), those products have already been pulled from the shelves of major chain stores.
32 different states in the United States, along with Canada, and Bermuda, were affected by those products. They were shipped between June 20 and July 21.
A representative from McCormick had the following to say about the voluntary recall: “The potential risk was brought to McCormick’s attention by FDA during routine testing. McCormick has alerted customers and grocery outlets to remove the product with the affected date codes from store shelves and distribution centers immediately, and to destroy this product in a manner that would prevent any further consumption.”
According to USA Today, there are many large stores that were affected by the products. Some of those include Target, Walmart, and Kroger.
Of course, you would want to avoid using those items if you have them on your shelves because salmonella is a very serious issue. It can cause serious illness and could be fatal in individuals who have compromised immune systems, as well as young children or elderly individuals.
