Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Birthday parties are as unique as the person celebrating them, and if you’re a parent, part of your job is figuring out what kind of birthday party your kid would most enjoy just going based on their personality.

If you happen to have a very DIY, hands-on kind of active child, then Lowe’s might have the perfect party venue for you. And yes, this is Lowe’s as in the home improvement chain. They are now introducing a Build a Birthday workshop.

These parties are for kids who are aged 5 and up. Parents can select from different packages, such as the Lil Builders Party for $349 or the Premium Builders Party for $399 – this has more complicated building projects that are more suited to older kids.

Lowe’s already has monthly kids’ activities, but the new birthday workshops are an expansion of this.

Every package comes with a DIY project kit for 12 kids, but there is also the option to have up to 20 kids participate in the activities. The kits come with materials that allow your kids to build such items like wooden castles, race cars, and much more. Of course, there are also safety goggles, aprons, and party construction hats in the kits.

The Lowe’s Build a Birthday events are each two hours, and they’re led by a Lowe’s Red Vest Party Captain, which means that parents don’t have to do anything except relax and chill out. All parties can be booked for either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, but only in select stores nationwide.

In addition, there can be some upgrades purchased as well, such as pizza, drinks, and dessert provided by Domino’s, as well as Lowe’s party favors, including T-shirts, water bottles, and backpacks.

Jen Wilson, senior vice president, Enterprise Brand and Marketing, explained in a statement, “Home improvement is about the whole family and that’s why we have Weekending at Lowe’s events every Saturday at our stores, including our kids’ workshops that help us feel connected to our littlest DIYers. And this launch is a natural extension of that relationship — not only do we want to inspire future builders, but we want DIY — and Lowe’s — to be an integral part of family milestones and memories.”

At the moment, there are 10 locations nationwide that offer the package. They are the following:

Brooklyn, New York
North Bergen, New Jersey
Orem, Utah
Huntersville, North Carolina
Noblesville, Indiana
Naperville, Illinois
Franklin, Tennessee
Eastlake, California
Central Dallas, Texas
North Peoria, Arizona

Lowe’s has not said if they have any plans to roll it out nationwide to all locations, but if they turn out to be really popular, then there is always the possibility of expansion.

Also, if you happen to be one of the first 50 people to plan a kid’s birthday party before April 17, and also fill in a survey by May 1, then you could be in the running to receive a $100 Lowe’s gift card.
