People take train rides for different reasons. Some of them may hop on the train to get to a particular destination and others may think of taking a train ride to enjoy the view.
Speaking on behalf of the latter, we may find a wide variety of train rides that allow us to see the world in a romantic and beautiful way. Perhaps we might think about taking a ride through the Rocky Mountains in the United States and Canada or perhaps traveling along an exotic coast.
In the case of those rides, they may last for a day or two but they’re still a great way to see the world. If you would like to take the longest train ride in the world, however, you would have to be in your seat for about a week.
In order to take this train ride, you would have to hop on board a train in Moscow, Russia, and make your way along the Trans-Siberian railway to Vladivostok. This trip covers almost the entire span of Russia and you would see some 5,772 miles of interesting things along the way.
This long train ride is nothing new. In fact, the Trans-Siberian railway started in 1916 and nobody has topped the trip since then. It still remains the longest train ride in the world, but there is more to it than simply being on a train.
If you are one of the few people who have ever taken the entire journey, you already realize that it is not at a fast pace. You will find yourself passing through some beautiful areas of Russia and you certainly wouldn’t want the train to rush through it.
Of course, there are stops along the way and many people had taken the entire length of the trip by taking portions of it at a time. If you happen to be one of those brave few that want to take it all in one trip, you will be in your seat for about 144 hours. That’s six full days!
There may be longer train routes in other parts of the world, but not all of them are going to carry passengers. Some of them are only for transporting goods. In addition, there are some longer trips but you have to take several different railroads before you make it to your destination.
