An aspiring young author in Idaho went above and beyond to get his book out to the world, and now, it can be checked out from his local library.

According to Good Morning America, eight-year-old Dillon Helbig of Ada, Idaho wants to be a comic book author one day.

Instead of waiting around until he’s an adult to start creating his books, Dillon began writing at a young age. By the time he was eight, he had finished an entire 88-page book, complete with binding and a cover!

Now, the challenge was to get the book out to people so they could enjoy it, too. That’s when Dillon came up with an idea to take his book with him to the local library.

As GMA shared, Dillon is a regular at the Ada County Library near Boise and on one of his visits, he brought his book, “The Adventures of Dillon Helbig’s Crismis” by “Dillon His Self” and tucked it onto a shelf in hopes that someone would see it and check it out.

It wasn’t long before the branch manager, Alex Hartman, found out what had happened and decided to officially catalog the book into the library system and offer it a more permanent place on the library shelves.

The library shared the story in a Facebook post:

In an interview with The Washington Post, Hartman said, “Dillon is a confident guy and a generous guy. He wanted to share the story. I don’t think it’s a self-promotion thing. He just genuinely wanted other people to be able to enjoy his story. … He’s been a lifelong library user, so he knows how books are shared.”

He went on to say that Dillon has been a long-time library user and knows how books are borrowed and shared, so he wanted to contribute in his own way.
